Abbot Mark Cooper, O.S.B. has appointed a new Subprior of Saint Anselm Abbey.
Father Augustine Kelly, O.S.B. has been appointed to serve as the Subprior of Saint Anselm Abbey. Father Augustine’s appointment comes as Father Peter Guerin, O.S.B. completes nearly 33 years as Subprior. The appointment is effective on Saturday March 30th. The Subprior is the 3rd ranked member of the community and serves as superior of the community in the absence of the Abbot and Prior.
Father Augustine is a native of Watertown, MA. He took vows as a monk of Saint Anselm Abbey in 1982 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1988. In addition to his new responsibilities, Father Augustine teaches in the Saint Anselm College Humanities department.
Father Peter is a native of Worcester, MA. He took vows as a monk of Saint Anselm Abbey in 1959 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1963. Father Peter will continue in his role as a Campus Minister at Saint Anselm College and teaching classes to our men in formation.
